The Expanse Season 5, Episode 2 recap: Can Holden save [Spoiler]?

Here’s everything that happened on The Expanse Season 5, Episode 2

The Expanse Season 5, Episode 2 focuses on four main storylines: Holden, Amos, Alex, and Avasarala. It’s time to break down the events in the episode.

For Holden, it’s a race against time to save a life. Meanwhile, Amos shows the heart he has despite the life he once lived. Then there’s Avasarala, who seems to be the only person concerned about Marco. That storyline connects to Alex’s, who learns from Bobby that someone is selling Martian weapons to the Belt.

Let’s get into the details of The Expanse Season 5, Episode 2.

Alex helps Bobbie figure out the person selling the weapons

Alex calls Bobbie out on her anger. After all, she’s not angry at him. Not completely.

Sure enough, she’s angry at the current situation. She’s trying to find out who is selling Martian weapons to the Belt, but she’s burning through all her contacts. She’s sure it all comes back to a particular Admirable, who Alex is sure can’t possibly be the guy.

Alex listens to a presentation from the Admirable about the rings, and he wants to talk to this guy after. However, the Admirable isn’t impressed. After all, he’s a Martian on a stolen ship captained by an Earther. Could he be hiding something?

One of the Admirable’s acquaintances says that she really wants to meet Alex for coffee. He’s been through the rings and she’d like to hear about it. Alex better watch out because she’s working for the Admirable.

Avasarala wants to take the threats seriously

In a board meeting, Avasarala makes it clear that she’s concerned about the research ship that blew up. She’s sure it wasn’t dumb chance and that there is something bigger at play.

She’s sure there’s a link to Marco, but none of the others in the meeting are convinced. Well, that is except for one who doesn’t have her back in the meeting. They’ll have to keep digging on their own.

They need to take this seriously, though. We know there’s something bigger at play. How long until Alex and Bobbie’s storylines combine with this one?

Amos helps a friend on The Expanse Season 5, Episode 2

Meanwhile, we find out exactly why Amos has returned to Baltimore. He wants to find out how Lydia died. She’s the woman who looked out for him and raised him as her own. She’s also the one that helped him find the courage to leave a terrible life behind.

At the house, she comes across Charles. He’s a sweet old man who had lived with Lydia for 10 years. In fact, he loved her. After explaining Lydia died of an aneurysm, Charles breaks down. What will he do without her?

Amos softens toward him at this point. He needs to see a guy called Eric to help Charles remain in the house.

Well, it turns out this Eric is someone he knows. Eric is worried but then surprised when he learns Amos just wants Eric to let Charles stay in the house and not end up on the streets.

Eric makes it clear that Amos’s ID isn’t going to hold up if he’s arrested. That means Amos needs to get off Earth without trouble. After thinking back to the past, he makes a call to Avasarala. He needs to get off Earth for good, but he wants her to do something first.

What is that something? I’m sure we’ll find out later on The Expanse Season 5.

Holden saves a life

Finally on The Expanse Season 5, Episode 2, it’s all about Holden. Monica leaves him a message to say that she has proof that someone is after the protomolecule. She needs to show him it in person.

When Holden gets to her hotel room, she’s already been taken. Footage from her eye camera shows that she’s in some sort of shipping container. Fred shuts down all the ports to make sure nobody can get out with Monica, allowing Holden time to find her.

Monica wakes in that shipping container and tries to force her way out. However, it blows a hole in the container and lets all the oxygen out. Just as it looks like she’s going to die, Holden gets to her container and saves her. In fact, it was putting the hole in the container that helped him find her!

Now it’s time to find out what she knows.
