Alex Rider certainly impressed fans of the books and those new to the universe. Now that you’ve had a chance to watch all eight episodes of the first season, you’ll want to know if Alex Rider Season 2 is happening.
There is some excellent news. We don’t have to wait around for a renewal. IMDb TV and Amazon Prime Video have already renewed Alex Rider for a second season.
Filming is slated to start at the end of this year. However, it’s worth noting that the UK is facing another lockdown, with England completely locked down for now. Filming may not be able to happen as early as hoped, but some pre-production work can at least start.
The renewal happened ahead of the U.S. debut of the series. Alex Rider had already premiered on Amazon Prime Video UK in June to rave reviews, so it was renewed off the back of that release.
How many episodes of Alex Rider will be in Season 2?
Digital Spy shared the great news but didn’t say the number of episodes that would be in Alex Rider Season 2. Eight episodes worked for this fast-paced, quick-reveal series. There’s no need to think that eight episodes won’t be the order for the second season.
Which book will the season pick up with? The story skipped over the first book, Stormbreaker, and opted to run straight with Point Blanc, which was actually the first book written but not the first book released!
The second season will likely follow on with Skeleton Key, the third novel in the series. During this novel, Alex is targeted by the Chinese Triad. MI6 and the CIA need to get Alex to safety, but he ends up on a mission to the island of Skeleton Key to uncover the secrets of General Alexei Sarov.
The books don’t include Jack and Tom that much, so there will likely be some changes to keep the two characters in the story. Kyra is also not part of the story, but she’s become an important part in the TV series, so how will she fit into this season?
