9 movies and TV shows are coming to DVD and Blu-ray this week [Aug. 4]
Jack Ryan Season 2 is one of the DVD and Blu-ray releases happening this week
It’s a new week. It’s also a new month, and August tends to be good when it comes to DVD and Blu-ray releases. This is when the TV shows from the previous season are released to get ready for the upcoming fall slate.
Even though many TV shows are being held to January (or may have to even though networks plan something different), we’ve still got the previous seasons heading to DVD and Blu-ray. That means nine TV shows and movies are getting their street dates this week.
What do you get to watch? There are certainly some notable releases.
Amazon has surprised everyone with releasing one of its Originals on DVD and Blu-ray—although, this will be linked to the production studio and not completely Amazon’s choice. Jack Ryan Season 2 is heading to DVD this week, so you can watch all episodes without having to keep your Prime membership. Of course, Amazon knows you have your Prime membership for so much more!
Another top mention is His Dark Materials Season 1. The HBO series is coming to DVD with plenty of time to get ready for Season 2 sometime in the fall. You’ll be able to see the show that is based on the first book in “The Golden Compass” series. It’s certainly worth the watch, especially if you love fantasy.
There are other TV shows making their way to DVD and Blu-ray. The recent seasons of NCIS: Los Angeles, The Good Doctor, and more have their releases this week. Most of these shows are planning fall returns but filming isn’t happening yet. Either way, you’ve got plenty of time to binge-watch all episodes and get ready for the new seasons.
