More than 10 movies and TV shows coming to DVD and Blu-ray this week
There are 11 new DVD releases happening this week, July 21
While there aren’t many movies hitting theaters, it hasn’t stopped the DVD releases from happening. There are TV shows from the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020 and some mid-pandemic movies now getting the DVD treatment.
July 21 will see the release of 11 movies and TV shows on DVD and Blu-ray. Some of them you will have certainly been waiting for, such as Castle Rock Season 2 and Scoob!. However, there are others that you may not have heard anything about just yet.
Let’s just take a look at the notable additions first. Castle Rock Season 2 is heading to DVD on July 21. It includes all 10 episodes of the Hulu series, which tells the story of a young Annie Wilkes, played by Lizzie Caplan. The DVD and Blu-ray (whichever you choose) comes with the Annie Wilkes: Mother of Sorrow featurette. If you get the Blu-ray, you’ll also grab a code for the digital copy.
The other notable mention is Scoob! While adults are still divided on whether it was a good addition to the universe, the children loved it. And let’s be honest, it’s the children who this movie was made for. It gives us a look at how Shaggy and Scooby met and shows just how unbreakable their friendship is, even when the dogpocalypse is about to happen.
This is one of those movies that headed straight to VOD during the pandemic to rent. Now it’s likely one of the top DVD releases of the week.
Another big release is Netflix’s Marriage Story. Starring Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver, the movie focuses on a couple going through a divorce. Even those who want to split on good terms can struggle, and this movie offers a daunting look at the damage divorce can do to those connected to the couple.
