When will Homecoming Season 3 come to Amazon Prime Video?

If Homecoming Season 3 happens, when can we watch it?

Right now, there’s no confirmation that Homecoming Season 3 will happen. The second season was only released in the middle of May 2020, so it’s still a little early for the streamer to make a decision. Assuming the third season does happen, when can we expect to see it on Amazon Prime Video?

If we look at the time between the first and second seasons, we’re looking at around 18 months until Homecoming Season 3. That means around November 2021.

Of course, this is assuming that the renewal comes in soon so the writing can start. It also assumes that filming will be able to return to normal soon and there won’t be another lockdown for whatever reason. There is still the threat of a second wave of the coronavirus.

When could Amazon Prime Video renew Homecoming?

While looking at when we could watch a third season, we also need to consider when Amazon could decide on the fate of the show. Amazon hasn’t been all that consistent with when decisions are made. Upload was renewed just a week after its release, while Carnival Row and The Boys were renewed ahead of their premieres.

Even Homecoming Season 2 was confirmed before the first season premiered. This is something Amazon tends to do with new shows that it has high hopes for.

However, some shows have waited a month or more to get the renewal announcement. This allows Amazon to assess the viewing figures through the streaming service, hear pitches for another story, and decide whether another season is financially a good idea.

Does Homecoming Season 3 need to happen? That one is debatable. The second season wasn’t as strong as the first season, and there’s only so many ways the serum and memory loss storylines can be used. The show would need to focus on a different part of Homecoming or dive deeper into characters we’ve only just got to know.
