8. Black Swan

Release date: Dec. 3, 2010

Directed by: Darren Aronofsky

Starring: Natalie Portman, Vincent Cassel, Mila Kunis, Barbara Hershey, and Winona Ryder

What it was about: When a prestigious ballet company decides Swan Lake is going to be the next production, it starts looking for its White and Black Swans. Nine is perfect for the former, while newcomer Lily is perfect for the latter.

Overwhelmed with the pressure, Nina finds herself competing for the role of the Black Swan. She will do anything she can to get the part, and it even looks like she’s willing to kill. She finds herself lost between fantasy and reality, as her mental health declines during the audition and lead-up to opening night.

It’s a dark, psychological thriller that tells more than a tale of the pressures of a ballet dancer. It’s an odyssey to achieving perfection.

7. The Book of Eli

Release date: Jan. 15, 2020

Directed by: Albert and Allen Hughes

Starring: Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman, Mila Kunis, Ray Stevenson, Jennifer Beals, Frances de la Tour, and Michael Gambon

What it was about: The Book of Eli takes place 30 years after a nuclear apocalypse. Eli is traveling across what was once the United States, where he constantly comes across those who would be enemies.

Why is he doing it? Well, it’s not to get himself to some promised land. He has one task: to get a special book across the wasteland to a safe location. He doesn’t question why; just accepting that it needs to be done.
