Will Sonic the Hedgehog stream on Amazon Prime Video?

After a false start, Sonic the Hedgehog is now in theaters. The question for many is whether you’ll be able to stream it on Amazon Prime Video.

Sonic the Hedgehog got off to a rough start, but it’s now in theaters. Whether you’ve watched it there and want to watch it again or you just want to wait for it to come to streaming, you’ll want to know where it’s heading. Is Sonic the Hedgehog going to be on Amazon Prime Video?

While the listings haven’t been released at all, it is possible to hazard a guess by looking at both the production and the distributing studios. Because Sonic is a Paramount Pictures movie, there is some great news. It’s possibly going to be on Amazon Prime Video in the future.

Previous Paramount Pictures movies, such as A Quiet Place and Bumblebee have headed to Prime Video. There are talks of Paramount Pictures movies heading to the new ViacomCBS streaming service, but that hasn’t been set up yet. It’s not clear when that will be available just yet, so there’s a chance the current contract with Amazon Prime Video is in place.

If Sonic the Hedgehog does end up going to Amazon Prime Video, it’s not going to be for about 11 months. That’s how long it took for previous Paramount Pictures releases to take to get to streaming. You’ll have plenty of time to get the DVD or Blu-ray first.

While it did get a bad start, Sonic the Hedgehog has been performing well with the audience now it’s in theaters. Critics may be treating this a little unfairly considering the rough start it had, but audiences have given it a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes at the time of writing.
