New Year’s Day is a chance to relax with family and watch TV shows and movies. Looking for a place to start? Here are five movies on Amazon to watch.

You want to spend New Year’s Day relaxing and enjoying time with the family. Watching great movies and TV shows is one of the easiest ways to do that. With so many options on Amazon, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Cut that out with these five great movies free with your Prime membership, and there’s something for the whole family.

5. Lost City of Z

For the adults, look for Lost City of Z. The Charlie Hunnam and Robert Pattinson movie may seem like a surprising addition, but it’s a well-crafted movie with an excellent storyline. Set in the early 20th century, Percy Fawcett decides to explore the Amazon, finding out that there’s a long-lost civilization to discover.

The new year is all about exploration and making changes. What better way to reflect than through stories of the past.

4. Jack Frost

When you want something with the kids, Jack Frost is one to watch. It’s a winter movie rather than a Christmas movie, and perfect for this time of year when we’re bundling up. Jack Frost is also a movie of self-discovery and finding a place to call home. Jack doesn’t remember his life before he came Frost, but he wants to figure things out and find a place among the mystical creatures.

This is a fun movie for the whole family. My three-year-old watched it over Christmas and it kept her glued to the screen for the entire movie. Perfect for getting things done around the house!

3. Wonder Park

Another excellent addition for the whole family is Wonder Park. The movie just recently joined Amazon Prime, so you’ve likely not had the chance to check it out yet. This is a story of a young girl’s imagination, reminding us that there’s nothing wrong with dreaming big!

June learns that her dream amusement park is real. Now she and her animal friends need to save the park from closure. Go on the wild adventure with your kids.

2. Late Night

When you’re looking for something to wind down the night once the kids are in bed, Late Night is a must. This Mindy Kaling and Emma Thompson movie is all about two generations, two different views coming together. It’s a story of beating the odds and proving that a different gender doesn’t mean bad things.

You can watch this Amazon Original movie right now on Prime. Grab a glass of wine and your popcorn to watch in peace.

1. Sherlock Gnomes

Another great option for the kids is Sherlock Gnomes, the sequel to Gnomeo and Juliet. This is a sweet retelling of the Sherlock Holmes story with plenty of Elton John music to dance away to. The kids will love it, just like they did the first movie.

Not seen the first movie yet? This is a story of what garden gnomes get up to when the owners aren’t looking. If your kids love Toy Story, then the gnome movies are perfect.
