Christmas Day is a chance to catch up on great TV shows and even start new ones. Here are five great TV shows on STARZ to watch in 2019.

Not sure what to watch on Christmas Day this year? There are some great TV shows out there, and STARZ has an offering for young and old. Spend some time together or utilize STARZ to give you peace while you try to cook Christmas dinner with these great TV shows!

5. The White Queen

For those who want a limited series, The White Queen is the show to watch. It’s the first of three limited series on STARZ and is arguably the best. Based on The White QueenThe Red Queen, and The Kingmaker’s Daughter by Philippa Gregory, the series tells the tale of Elizabeth Woodville, Margaret Beauchamp, and Anne Neville, three women in a time where men held all the power.

We see the rise and fall of dynasties and the role that the women played. It is a fictionalized telling of history, but an intriguing and exciting one at that. Just don’t take it all as historical fact.

If you enjoy The White Queen, you can follow up with The White Princess and The Spanish Princess over Christmas break.

4. Jim Henson’s The Storyteller

Need something for the children? STARZ has Jim Henson’s The Storyteller available. There are multiple limited series, where a storyteller and his dog bring folklores to life. One series focuses on the European folk tales, while another goes into Greek myths.

The tales are told through actors and puppets, bringing the stories to life. It’s an excellent option for the kids while you’re cooking dinner. You may just fall in love with the memory of these tales at the same time.

3. Diff’rent Strokes

When you want a great comedy from the past, Diff’rent Strokes is the one to put on. It’s about a wealthy white man who adopts two black boys, and everything that comes with that. This is the series that made Gary Coleman a star. You know you’ve heard the saying “whatchu talking about, Willis?”

The series was progressive for its time, and that’s what makes it so great. This isn’t one that was trying to be hip. It focused on being inclusive while showing the racism of the time. After all, it was made between 1978 and 1986.

2. Outlander

One of the greatest STARZ Originals is Outlander, so naturally, it had to be on the list. This isn’t a show for children, but parents will want to put it on once the kids are in bed. That’s if you’ve still got the energy! It focuses on the story of Claire Randall and Jamie Fraser, as Claire falls through time and meets her soulmate.

Christmas Day is the perfect time to start your binge-watch. Season 5 will be released in February, so you’ve got a little more than a month to binge-watch and get ready.

1. Power

Another series that isn’t suitable for children but is worth the watch is Power. It’s a thrilling ride about James “Ghost” St. Patrick, who seems to have everything. However, there’s a secret life. While he may have a Fortune 500 business, he also has a drug empire that sees him serve the rich.

However, Ghost wants out of the drug dealing game. He’s willing to use Truth at all costs to get out so he can live a legitimate life with his family. Can he do it?
