5 great movies to watch on Amazon Prime Video on Christmas Day
Christmas Day is a chance to sit with family and enjoy movies together. Here are five great movies on Amazon Prime Video to watch.
Christmas Day is the perfect opportunity to sit around in jammies and watch great movies with the family. Looking through Amazon Prime Video can be overwhelming, and not all movies will show up on the home screen. You’ll need something to help you find the best options.
Whether you want something to preoccupy the kids while you cook Christmas dinner, want a rom-com for later in the evening, or need something for the entire family, we have you covered. Here are five great movies on Amazon to watch on Christmas Day.
5. Christmas Story
Are you ready for a story about Santa Claus? Christmas Story is a beautiful tale that reimagines Santa’s story. In this, he’s a young orphan who wants to bring Christmas cheer to the villagers who raised him. It’s a chance to show gratitude and starts a tradition that will continue for the centuries.
This is perfect for the entire family. Christmas Story will remind the kids of the true meaning of Christmas through beautiful animation.
4. All I Want for Christmas Is You
When you need something just for the kids, it has to be about Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You. The movie is based on the song of the same name, but it’s not about a guy. This is about one young girl’s wish for a puppy.
While I don’t suggest getting a puppy for Christmas just because your kids want it (they’re a long-term investment), I do love the basis of the story. It’s about a Christmas wish and hope for the future. There’s a cute story for children, and you’ve got something suitable to put on while you get on with Christmas Day dinner!
3. Four Christmases and a Wedding
There had to be a Lifetime movie on the list, right? Four Christmases and a Wedding is leaving Jan. 3, 2020, so this is the last chance you’ll get to watch it for free on Amazon. And it’s certainly worth it.
Arielle Kebbel is Chloe, an event planned hired for the local Christmas Festival. It’s an exciting challenge and opportunity, but one that is shrouded in disappointment for her mother. After all, Chloe admits that she’s given up on finding Mr. Right. This will be a great movie to watch once everyone has gone to bed and you want time to yourself!
2. Captain America: The First Avenger
While it’s not a Christmas movie, it’s perfect for the entire family. And yes, you can watch it for free on Amazon Prime Video right now! Captain America: The First Avenger starts off the franchise. Okay, technically, the second Hulk movie does, but it’s Captain America that saw the first wave of successful movies begin.
You can see Steve Rogers become the Avenger he is known as. Let the kids see what it means to be a true hero, but the sacrifices that sometimes have to be made. Also, give them a chance to see the love story between Steve and Peggy, which helps to understand so much more in later movies.
1. Daddy’s Home 2
This is a comedy for the adults more than the children, but if you’ve got older children it may be suitable. Daddy’s Home was a great comedy starring Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg as a father and a step-father who have to find a sort of new normal between them.
Once they do, they think nothing will stop them. The problem is their fathers are coming to town, and we get to see where their personalities come from. With Ferrell and Wahlberg back and bringing Mel Gibson and John Lithgow into the fold, Daddy’s Home 2 is a must for this Christmas.
