Will The Lighthouse be available to stream on Amazon Prime?

Robert Pattison and Willem Dafoe are impressing fans and critics in their new creepy film, The Lighthouse. But will it stream on Amazon Prime?

Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson lead the tense new film from Robert Eggers and A24 studios, The Lighthouse. The movie is already receiving rave reviews from critics. It currently has a high approval rating of 93% on review aggregator, Rotten Tomatoes.

The Lighthouse focuses on Pattinson and Dafoe’s characters, two lighthouse keepers isolated on a mysterious island. The movie takes place in the 1890s and was shot entirely in black and white. Eggers formerly directed the horror masterpiece, The Witch. Although that film was polarizing to the general public.

If you’re unsure if the film will be for you, or it’s not playing near you, I’m sure you’re wondering if it will be available to watch free on Amazon Prime at some point. The answer is, most likely not.

Many A24 films do actually become available on Amazon Prime, such as Under the Silver Lake. The difference between those two movies is that Under the Silver Lake was only distributed by A24. The Lighthouse is being distributed by both A24 and Focus Features.

Most likely, The Lighthouse will follow the rules of Focus and their movies generally go to HBO. Mary Queen of Scots, BlacKKKlansman, and Boy Erased have all gone to HBO. The good news is, if you have Amazon Video Channels, you can subscribe to HBO.

As for when the film might transition to streaming, it will probably be about 10 months at the very least. That means the movie will likely not be available on HBO until summer of next year.
