2. Jigsaw (2017)

  • Directed by: The Spierig Brothers
  • Starring: Matt Passmore, Callum Keith Rennie, Clé Bennett, and Hannah Emily Anderson

Fans of the Saw franchise probably need no introduction when it comes to this 2017 movie. This is the eighth official film in the franchise. It picks up after the original Jigsaw killer.

Jigsaw is all about finding the “new” Jigsaw. Police begin to investigate some of the copycat murderers trying to fill the void. Critics weren’t super fond of this one but if you already love the movies then you know what to expect.

1. Child’s Play (1988)

  • Directed by: Tom Holland
  • Starring: Catherine Hicks, Chris Sarandon, Alex Vincent, and Brad Dourif

In June of this year, a Child’s Play reboot debuted theatrically. It received mixed reviews. But if you liked it, or are intrigued about Chucky, then you should check out the original 1988 movie. If you wind up enjoying it, you can even rent or buy the entire film franchise.

The first film is slightly different than the 2019 remake. It follows a serial killer who transplants his soul into a doll through black magic. That doll is then bought as a gift for the main character’s son. It doesn’t take long for the family to realize what they’ve brought into their home is more than any ordinary doll.
