4. 31 (2016)

  • Directed by: Rob Zombie
  • Starring: Sheri Moon Zombie, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Meg Foster, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs, Richard Brake, and Jane Carr

Rob Zombie is notorious in the horror genre. You either love him or hate him! His recent film, 31, flew under the radar thanks to being crowdfunded. If you haven’t seen it yet, and you thought Pennywise was scary, it’s worth checking out.

In 1976, five carnival members are kidnapped by a creepy clan of clowns known as “The Heads.” The clowns force their hostages to play a deadly game known as “31.” If they hope to survive, they’ll have to make it through a maze of bloody torture and obstacles over 12 hours.

3. Rosemary’s Baby (1968)

  • Directed by: Roman Polanski
  • Starring: Mia Farrow, John Cassavetes, Ruth Gordon, Sidney Blackmer, Maurice Evans, and Ralph Bellamy

I have to admit that Rosemary’s Baby is one of my favorite horror movies of all time, so I had to make sure it found a place on this list. Plus, it’s considered a classic and even part of the Criterion Collection. You might not be aware that Rosemary’s Baby is based on a book written by Ira Levin.

The story follows Guy and Rosemary Woodhouse. They move into the Bramford apartment located in New York. But the Bramford is known for its twisted history including everything from murder to cannibals. The Woodhouse’s aren’t dissuaded. Guy has a better experience in their new home than Rosemary. She becomes pregnant and starts to believe that an evil group living in the Bramford wants to steal their baby away.
