10 movies you won’t believe are turning 10 in 2019
4. Avatar
When it turns 10: Dec. 18
Who it’s for: This is for teens and adults. It’s also perfect for those who love James Cameron movies and like to see something bright, colorful, and full of action.
Why it does/doesn’t stand the test of time: Can you believe that Avatar is turning 10? This movie has stood the test of time, with the graphics remaining ever so brilliant and vibrant. The storyline itself also continues to be one of empowerment and love—love for a country, for a people, and for differences.
You’ll want to put this movie on at some point during the next few months. Forget about discussions of a sequel right now and focus on the magic that made Avatar so brilliant.
3. Inglourious Basterds
When it turned 10: Aug. 21
Who it’s for: Those who adore anything directed by Quentin Tarantino are going to want to check out Inglourious Basterds. This is also great for those who like wartime movies with a twist.
Why it does/doesn’t stand the test of time: Inglourious Basterds is just never going to get old. It really is as simple as that. This is a movie that doesn’t even follow the real history—c’mon, Hitler is killed in the end!—but it’s just pure entertainment that you can overlook this.
While it’s a parody of war movies, it’s still respectful and poignant at moments. Even if you don’t love Quentin Tarantino movies all that much, this is one to check out.
