8. Orphan

When it turned 10: Jul. 24

Who it’s for: As a horror movie, this is for those who adore creepy tales. It’s certainly a disturbing tale and is more for those who like StrangersHouse of Wax, and other similar tales.

Why it does/doesn’t stand the test of time: I’m not sure this one does stand the test of time. The horror movie certainly remains creepy, but once you know the twist at the end, it’s not all that scary. It’s just disturbing.

However, it’s worth a second watch. This way, you get the foreshadowing of the reveals.

7. The Princess and the Frog

When it turns 10: Dec. 11

Who it’s for: This is one of those movies aimed at children. It’s Disney after all! However, the whole family will find something to love about The Princess and the Frog.

Why it does/doesn’t stand the test of time: Of course, this Disney movie stands the test of time. Most Disney movies do. The Princess and the Frog tends to be among the most underrated movies out of the Disney princesses, but it’s one of the most important. Tiana is the first (and still only, so far) black princess in the Disney universe (Mulan isn’t a princess) and paved the way for the success of Moana.

Plus, who doesn’t love a good love story? There’s something sweet about Tiana and her journey to living her dream of owning her own restaurant and finding a man she can spend her life with. It is possible to have it both ways.
