Actress Rosa Salazar previews what’s to come from Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming original comedy-drama Undone ahead of its Sept. 13 premiere!

This September, Amazon Prime Video’s original slate will expand with a conceptually stunning new rotoscope animation series Undone which looks to expand the realms of adult animation. Not only does the series stray away from traditional animation with its unique, artistic style, but the series looks to incorporate comedy while addressing several pressing topics including mental health.

"“It’s really deep and the deepest things are always the funniest things to me,” Undone actress Rosa Salazar teased of the tone Amazon’s newest original series in speaking with members of the media at Comic-Con. “To me, they’re one of the same; the light is opposed to the dark.”"

Salazar will bring to life the show’s lead character Alma, a young woman who develops a new relationship with time following a near-death experience. This new relationship sets her on an unexpected journey to discovering the truth about her reality and the circumstances around her father’s death.

Like the show itself, Alma has many layers and is far from your average lead in a comedy series. She’s sarcastic, she’s unspoken and, most importantly, authentic.

"“Half of Alma is kind of like a cartoon. She’s sort of sarcastic and she has a sardonic approach to life. She’s like, ‘Everything’s pointless. Anyway, what’s up with you?’ She kind of lets these one-liners roll out of her all the time, it’s just who she is. She’s a sarcastic smart*ss,” Salazar previewed in discussing her character.“At the same time, there’s this wealth of emotion,” she continued. “There’s the depression, there’s the anxiety, there’s the grief that she’s experiencing with losing her father. Humor is a mask for pain. That’s interesting to me. To me it’s important to be authentic. Alma is, for better or worse, authentic. She’s very genuine about who she is, there’s nothing disingenuous about her."
