A Simple Favor star Blake Lively has just signed a first-look deal with Amazon Studios. She is already in development on several projects.
Blake Lively initially broke out on the popular CW series, Gossip Girl. The series is actually going to be revived through the new streaming service, HBO Max, with original show creators returning. It is unlikely Lively will return although not beyond the realm of possibility.
From there she went on to become a popular movie star when she’s not stunning on the red carpet or the Met Gala. Lively has become something of a fashion icon. You’ll also recognize her from films like The Shallows, All I See Is You, and the recent hit, A Simple Favor.
Next, she’ll help develop projects with Amazon Studios as she has signed an official first-look deal. This deal comes on the heel of other high-profile first-look deals with actors such as Connie Britton, Nina Yang Bongiovi, Forrest Whittaker, and John Krasinski.
The news broke at the Amazon TCA summer pannel. Head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke spoke with Deadline about the news: “It took a long time but we just closed a deal with Blake, we closed a first-look deal and we’re talking and developing a show.”
Deadline also reports that one of her new projects has a hint of Gossip Girl in its blood as a series set in New York with a fashion element. The other project currently in the works is based around a piece of IP but we don’t have much more details than that.
As for Lively, she will next star in Rhythm Section, which is a femme spy thriller directed by Reed Morano. It will be released this November.
