Amazon renews Carnival Row for a second season

Amazon has renewed its upcoming original fantasy series starring Orlando Bloom, Carnival Row, for a second season ahead of its August debut.

After handing out an early renewal to its dark comedy superhero series, The Boys, Amazon has decided to be equally generous with upcoming fantasy series, Carnival Row. At the studios’ summer TCA panel, it was announced Carnival Row would return for a Season 2.

The drama stars Cara Deleveingne and Orlando Bloom, it will officially make its global debut on the Prime Video streaming platform on August 30, 2019. This renewal is great news because it means Amazon has confidence in Carnival Row as a series.

Early renewals are always fantastic news for fans of the show too. Now they can binge worry-free knowing the series will be back and they don’t have to wait nervously for cancellation or renewal news.

Carnival Row is a neo-noir fantasy series set in the Victorian era in a world where fairies and mythological creatures of all kinds exist. Bloom plays Rycroft Philostrate, a detective, and Delevingne plays Vignette Stonemoss, a refugee faerie.

Philostrate is attempting to solve a string of terrible murders and Vignette may hold thee dark secret that helps him solve it. The series is based on A Killing on Carnival Row, a script by Travis Beacham that once appeared on the Hollywood Blacklist in 2005.

The show is created by Rene Echevarria and Travis Beacham. Aside from Bloom and Delevingne, the series also stars David Gyasi, Karla Crome, Indira Varma, Tamzin Merchant, and Scott Reid. Alice Krige, Ariyon Bakare, Maeve Dermody, Jamie Harris, Anna Rust, and Sinead Phelps will recur.
