8. Billions
Billions is a complex drama series based on a loose depiction of true events. We follow Charles Rhoades Jr. (Paul Giamatti) a powerful intense US attorney who has it in for criminals who are able to pay away their problems by bribe and Bobby Axelrod (Damien Lewis) who is the exact opposite of Charles. In the public eye, it seems Bobby uses his money for good but instead he bribes people and does insider trading to advance his company for his own benefit.
In the battle between two powerful figures in New York, Rhoades is determined to catch Axelrod in some sort of illegal activity to prove he is up to no good. This isn’t made any easier by Rhoades’ wife also being Axelrod’s psychologist and is very close to him. Axelrod is inspired by hedge-fund manager Steve Cohen of SAC Capital because in 2012 he was caught in an insider-trading scandal.
There are currently four seasons of Billions with the fourth season only now just ending but we should except Season 5 early next year, giving you time to catch up. You can watch Billions through Amazon Channels with a Showtime subscription for $8.99 per month starting with a seven-day free trial.
