4. The Endless Summer (1966)

This movie sticks out like a sore thumb from the rest of the movies on this list because it is a documentary feature. It was released in 1966 and widely considered to be one of the best surf stories of all time.

The film follows two surfers, Mike Hynson, and Robert August, on their worldwide surfing adventure. The term “endless summer” was coined as the title of the documentary because of the theory that fueled the trip: if one could travel the world during the right time, they could chase the season of summer on an infinite loop.

3. The Reef (2011)

Unfortunately, Jaws is no longer available on Amazon Prime Video (well it is, but only if you have the STARZ add-on channel). But there is another deadly shark movie you can watch free with your membership. The Reef came out in 2011 and it is one of the better shark movies I’ve seen in recent years.

The Australian horror film follows a group of friends who capsize near Indonesia. They try to survive long enough to get to the nearest island but they’re interrupted by a great white shark. The Reef is notable for its usage of actual shark footage and performed well with critics.
