9. Shuri (Black Panther)

Black Panther is not only an important movie culturally, but it’s also thrilling, dramatic, and great in a way we don’t get to see very often in action movies. Shuri (Letitia Wright) is the Black Panther’s sister but aside from that, she is the smartest person in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. That’s a pretty high bar seeing as how many geniuses there are already in the MCU.

Shuri is only 16 but is in charge of all Wakanda’s tech and can do amazing things like heal bullet wounds overnight. Not only that but if you have watched the film you will know Wakanda’s lifeblood is Vibranium.

Shuri harnesses the Vibranium into fuel for the entire country, essentially making her in charge of the most important matters that shape Wakanda. She is definitely not your typical princess but makes a very good role model for all scientifically-driven women.

8. Clarice Starling (Silence of the Lambs)

When remembering Silence of the Lambs, it’s easy to get caught up thinking of the infamous pair of Hannibal Lecter and Buffalo Bill. However, Claire Starling (Jodie Foster) deserves some spotlight too, as the force that drives the film towards being an all-time classic. Starling is just an FBI trainee when she is given the terrifying task of interviewing Hannibal Lecter, yet she proceeds into the interviews unfazed and powers on.

Throughout she gets branded as incapable and nobody really trusts her, but time and time again she proves to be more effective than any man. She properly deduces clues about the identity of the serial killer, shuts down misogynistic male cops and is the only one who could get valuable information out of Lecter in the eight years he was locked up. When the time came, she finds Buffalo Bill herself, instead of acclaimed detective and mentor Jack Crawford.

7. Leslie Knope (Parks and Recreation)

Amy Poehler’s role as Leslie on the hit comedy Parks and Recreation is wonderful. Poehler plays her character to perfection, almost too well to the point it leaves you wondering if Poehler is a Leslie in real life.

Leslie is devoted, caring, friendly and (almost annoyingly so) determined which we see in almost every episode of Parks and Recreation. Although this is a comedy series it still shows if you put your mind to it, you can achieve it.

We see this through all of Leslie’s accomplishments, however, she goes through her great deal of setbacks also. She is relatable and inspiring and makes it impossible to stop watching in perhaps the most binge-worthy television show ever.
