2. Watchmen

From the former writer of LOST and The Leftovers, Watchmen is another highly-anticipated series from HBO. It is an adaptation of Alan Moore’s graphic novel. Ever since the divisive Watchmen live-action film, fans have been clamoring for another attempt at the series and I can’t think of a better showrunner than Damon Lindelof who has more than proved himself as a capable creator and writer with the other HBO series, The Leftovers.

As of yet, there is no official release date for Watchmen but the estimate puts its release date at some time this fall. The cast includes Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Tim Blake Nelson, and more.

1. The Leftovers

Speaking of The Leftovers, this three-season series is perhaps one of HBO’s most underrated and yet also one of their best. The Leftovers never quite received the attention it deserved but that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth watching.

And don’t let the short length fool you, The Leftovers wasn’t axed on a cliffhanger. In fact, many fans think the series finale is one of the best of all time. The show is also based on a book and it follows the aftermath of a cataclysmic event in which 140 million people suddenly disappear without a trace. As the title suggests, the series follows the “leftover” people and how they cope in the face of such catastrophe.
