4. Last Flag Flying

Directed by acclaimed director, Richard Linklater, Last Flag Flying is the touching story of three men who unite after serving in the Vietnam War years earlier to bury one man’s son after he dies in the Iraq war. Along the way, all three men learn valuable life lessons from one another as they wax nostalgic about the time they once spent together.

The film stars Steve Carrell, Bryan Cranston, and Laurence Fishburne. Last Flag Flying received positive critical and audience reception when it debuted. The movie is certainly a tearjerker, but it deals with important themes like brotherhood, loyalty, and friendship. It doesn’t hurt that all three main actors give stellar performances.

Michelle Williams also got quite a bit of attention for portraying his estranged wife, Randi. Affleck’s character must relocate back home to the fishing village his working-class family came from in order to take care of his brother’s son. In the process, he reconnects to the life he left behind.
