8. The Commuter

I feel like Liam Neeson is the king of dad-friendly movies. I would honestly recommend watching any Neeson film for Father’s Day but The Commuter has recently arrived on Amazon Prime so it’s a good pick if you want something relatively new!

Neeson plays an insurance salesman who is on his daily commute to and from work when he meets a mysterious woman (played by Vera Farmiga) she assigns him a task to track down a specific passenger on the train before it arrives at his last stop.

But as the game begins, the stakes increase and the circumstances become increasingly dire. It’s a fast-paced action thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

7. Shutter Island

Based off a novel of the same name, Leonardo DiCapario stars as US Marshal Teddy Daniels. He is called in to investigate a strange occurrence at Ashecliffe Asylum when a woman seemingly vanishes into thin air out of her room. The asylum is located on a secluded island, cut off from the rest of the world.

Daniels and his partner (played by Mark Ruffalo) get embroiled in both the mysteries of this woman’s disappearances and in the dark secrets of the island. Shutter Island is a Martin Scorcese movie and it’s extremely well-made. It was nominated for several Academy Awards upon its debut.
