5 takeaways from Blood and Treasure Season 1, Episode 3
By Mads Lennon
3. Asim was not the mole.
Danny and Lexi begin to suspect there is a mole in Interpol because they’ve been at the helm of two failed operations in connection with Karim Farouk. They initially suspect Asim, who doesn’t appear to want to let Danny or Lexi out from under watchful gaze.
These suspicions are put to rest when they go investigate a new lead after Lexi cracks the Sumerian in the banker’s ledger and finds the address to one of Farouk’s safe houses. Danny realizes Asim is an honorable man who wants Farouk taken out as much as he and Lexi do. Unfortunately, Asim doesn’t live long enough to see that happen. He dies a noble death saving Lexi from a grenade in the midst of a firefight at the safe house.
2. Next stop: Bavaria, Germany.
At least one good thing came out of the siege at Farouk’s safehouse, Lexi managed to snag the stolen photograph showing Cleopatra in possession of the Nazis from 1944 when they stole her tomb and took her to Germany.
She shares the photo with Danny and they come to the same conclusion, Farouk will want to go to the exact place this photo was taken and that means they should too.
1. Fabi is hunting for a mole.
We still aren’t sure exactly what part Fabi has to play in this worldwide treasure hunt. For now, we know he is working with another group that also wants to get their hands on Cleopatra’s sarcophagus. At the end of the episode, he can be seen eavesdropping on Lexi and Danny.
Through an earpiece, he conveys Asim’s death and his innocence. But he knows who the mole must be and claims she is on her way to Germany. Is Fabi is implying Lexi is the mole? Or does he believe it may be Agent Karlsson who hasn’t really served a purpose on the show as of yet and could easily be evil?
Odds & Ends
- Chuck is a fantastic side character. I love when he flashed his priest collar to clear out the basketball court at the end.
- We learn a little more about Lexi’s heritage, her mother was Coptic Christian and her father was Muslim.
- Clever Magnum P.I. shout-out, I see you CBS.
- I’m kind of hoping Karlsson is the mole because right now her character is boring.
