3. The Kids Are Alright

There aren’t too many half-hour comedies on Amazon Prime Video, so it’s time for hte streaming service to start looking at them. The Kids Are Alright is one of the first. Honestly, you may be seeing a theme here — FOX and ABC had the biggest cancellations that need fixing and it suggests they had the biggest issues with their scheduling and promoting of their new shows.

The Kids Are Alright was actually a surprise cancellation when you consider Single Parents made it through. Both shows were performing about the same in the demo and The Kids Are Alright was actually performing better in the total audience in the live ratings, according to TV Series Finale.

Bringing in a sense of nostalgia, it’s clear that viewers want this type of show. And there’s no doubt that Amazon would offer the perfect home. After all, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel proves that period comedy works. And if you want serious period shows, The Man in the High Castle offers proof that this type of setting works.

Rather than an alternate 1960s or a comedic 1950s, The Kids Are Alright gives us the turbulent 1970s with an Irish-Catholic family. We see the family attempt to navigate uncertainty of the time period but in funny ways.

This is one of the more talked about shows to get saved right now. Amazon will want to listen up.
