15 TV shows still in danger of being canceled in 2019 (and 5 Amazon should save)

In danger: The Romanoffs

Another Prime Original making my list is The Romanoffs. I’ll be honest and say that I got through half of the first episode and turned it off. It was as disappointing as the trailer suggested it would be for me. However, as an anthology, there may be other episodes within the season that I’ll enjoy more — I couldn’t stand the grandmother in the first episode at all.

Another problem may have been the weekly release. Viewers aren’t used to that when it comes to Prime Originals — unless it’s The Grand Tour!

Like the other Prime Originals, the show has been out for too long without a renewal. That renewal, if it was happening, should have occurred by now.

In danger: SEAL Team

I’ll start this by saying I’ll be mad if CBS does cancel SEAL Team. However, it looks to be one of the shows going in May 2019. The ratings just haven’t been great — mostly since the timeslot change to 10 p.m.

Considering the emotion, excellent writing, and focus on important issues, this show shouldn’t be one on the bubble. The problem is many people likely initially thought it was just going to be another military drama and it’s anything but! I really want to see SEAL Team Season 3 — hey, maybe it could head over to CBS All Access!

In danger: Abby’s

When it comes to freshman shows, there’s one on NBC that is performing poorly compared to expectations. Abby‘s is one of the lowest-rated shows on the network, despite its excellent Thursday night placement.

It’s not for lack of promotion, either. I constantly see promos for it while watching other shows on the network (and I do watch a lot of NBC). However, this has been since the show has been on the air. It looks like there’s just too much and there wasn’t enough in the run-up to the series premiering.

Should save: Colony

This USA Network show was canceled last year, but it remains on my list of shows for Amazon to save. That ending was just too big and too shocking to leave like that. I need answers and I’m sure plenty of other fans out there do too.

Colony’s live viewer ratings weren’t good enough for the network. However, it’s clear there are fans and many people watched through Netflix when the season ended up there. Now it needs to come to Amazon, where it will fit in with other sci-fi and fantasy shows like The Expanse and other conspiracy/crime dramas like Jack Ryan and Bosch.
