3. Will Jon choose the living over love and over the throne?

Jon Snow is in a difficult position right now. He’s just learned that he’s the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. That is certainly going to put pressure on him to choose his family and the living over love.

The North wants him to be king. If the lords and ladies ever found out that he was the rightful Targaryen, they would be lost. He’s a Stark through Lyanna, so still a Northern lord, but he’s also a Targaryen and that will certainly make them want to hate him. Yet, because he’s a Stark, there’s a chance that they would follow him regardless.

This would allow him to put the living first. He could rally the North behind him. He could make sure the army came back, especially those who have decided to remain in their own homes – although that may change when everyone learns that the Umbers have fallen.

Jon doesn’t want the throne, though. It’s never been something that he’s wanted. Well, it’s time for him to get over that. Whether he doesn’t want it because of the responsibility or because of his love for Dany, he’s going to have to get over things right now. The living needs him on their side.
