10 shows in danger of being canceled and 5 shows Amazon should save
In danger: The Innocents
Network: Netflix
Can you watch on Amazon Prime? No, only on Netflix.
What it’s about: Harry and June are just two teenagers in love with each other. When they decide to run away from their families, they believe they get a chance to start anew. However, their lives are taken for a spin when June learns she can shapeshift.
Can Harry accept June for who she really is? Can June remain safe from those like her who want her to join them? Everything is tested in this series.
Why it’s in danger: The Innocents has pretty much been canceled. If it was really going to be renewed, Netflix would have announced this by now. Maybe it should be on the list of shows that Amazon should save! However, there’s been nothing official.
Low views will likely be the reason for the lack of renewal. Netflix loves to use this despite not making all viewing information public. The cost to make the series could also be a problem. And it’s a shame, because like One Day at a Time and Everything Sucks!, this is a series that is progressive, supportive, and diverse.
Amazon should save: Timeless
Number of seasons: 2
When it was canceled: Timeless was canceled during the summer of 2018 but was offered a two-hour special to wrap storylines up. That wrap-up movie hasn’t prevented fans from calling for the series to be renewed.
What it’s about: Timeless tells the story of a team of time travelers attempts to keep the timeline the same. When a rogue “time terrorist” heads through the past to prevent an organization called Rittenhouse from forming to save his wife and daughter, the Time Team needs to prevent him. By the second season, the mission to protect the timeline had changed to preventing Rittenhouse from making permanent, unknown changes.
Why it needs to be saved: When it comes to shows about history, it’s hard to make them exciting. Timeless managed that and more. With excellent storytelling, intriguing characters, and beautiful sets and costumes, Timeless pulled people from around the world into the series.
While I did think that Netflix should save it, this could be the perfect show for Amazon Prime Video. There’s already proof that fans are interested in history with the likes of The Man in the High Castle and Lore, while proof that fans love fantasy and sci-fi.
