In danger: Lore

Network: Amazon

Can you watch on Amazon Prime? Yes, as a Prime Original.

What it’s about: This anthology series is based on the Aaron Mahnke podcast of the same name. It tells very true stories of the past, bringing some of the scariest tales to life. During the first season, Aaron Mahnke narrated the tales, all of which came from his successful podcast. The second season took a very different path, which turned podcast fans off.

Why it’s in danger: Lore made my list before Christmas and it remains as an Amazon Prime show in danger of being canceled. The biggest reason is that it still hasn’t been renewed for a third season. The second season had been announced by this point.

There hasn’t been anything about the series in the news since the second season dropped. It suggests there’s no problem behind the scenes but that it’s lack of views that have caused Amazon to decide against renewal.

In danger: Forever

Network: Amazon

Can you watch on Amazon Prime? Yes, as a Prime Original

What it’s about: Forever is a show that was nothing like it initially seemed. June and Oscar have been married for 12 years and spent that whole time doing the same thing over and over again. While Oscar is happy with that, June isn’t and suggests that they try something different for their annual vacation. That’s when the trouble starts.

Why it’s in danger: This Prime Original series didn’t quite make the list last time, but it should have. By the end of last year, I’d started to worry about the fate.

One of the problems for Forever is that it wasn’t promoted as well as some of the other Prime Originals on the service. Had it not been for purposely looking for Amazon Original content, I’d have possibly overlooked it. It also wasn’t promoted in a way to show what the series was actually about. It took me two watches to really appreciate it and with so much content out there, show makers can’t expect fans to offer that time.

Forever debuted back in September. If it was going to get a second season, an announcement should have been made by now. It sounds like Forever Season 2 isn’t happening.
