Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

Me Before You is a romance, but it’s also a heartbreaking story. It also happens to be the first book in a trilogy.

This book follows Louisa Clark as she takes a job working for wheelchair-bound Will Traynor. Will is moody and has a sharp tongue, but Louisa doesn’t let that bother her a bit. She makes it a point to dedicate her time to make him happy. And along the way the two fall in love.

However, Louisa soon learns that Will has some plans for his future, that she is not keen on allowing to happen. The book explores what happens when someone you love makes a choice you don’t agree with, and how you can deal with a tragedy before it happens.

Published in 2012, this became a New York Times Bestseller and was made into a film. If you enjoy this book, make sure you find the other two books in the trilogy.

Dark Lover by JR Ward

Switching gears into a completely different genre. If you’re into paranormal romance and vampires, JR Ward’s Dark Lover is the book for you.

Wrath, son of Wrath, is ruling King of the vampires and leader of the famed Black Dagger Brotherhood. He lives a life bent on revenge against the enemy species who killed his parents. However, when his friend is killed, he must set aside his revenge to help his friend’s half-breed daughter through her transition.

Beth Randall is a reporter and human, or so she thinks. When her body starts behaving weirdly, and she meets this handsome stranger, she begins to think everything is not as it seems. As Wrath helps Beth through her transition, the two fall in love and this one action changes everything the Black Dagger Brotherhood has come to know as normal.

Published in 2005, Dark Lover is the first book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. So if you fall in love with the Brothers during this book, find the other thirteen books, each Brother is unique, and each of their love stories is epic.
