10. Captain Marvel

Directed by: Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck

Starring: Brie Larson, Lee Pace, and Samuel L. Jackson

Date arriving: March 8, 2019

Why we need to watch it: The female superhero angle is definitely something that we’re excited to see, but it’s more than that. Brie Larson is going to play the titular superhero, one that many of us have wanted to see since the beginning of the MCU.

We’ll get a young-looking Samuel L. Jackson on our screens, as he’s made to look younger with surprisingly convincing CGI. That was one of the elements of the trailer I loved since I couldn’t imagine anyone else playing Nick Fury.

Then there’s Jude Law entering the world, in a pre-Avengers set storyline that will help us understand why she’s the one to help in Endgame. Yes, there’s the female hero aspect, but there’s much more to make us excited.

9. Shazam!

Directed by: David F. Sandberg

Starring: Zachary Levi, Mark Strong, and Asher Angel

Date arriving: April 5, 2019

Why we need to watch it: When it comes to DC, one of the most highly anticipated movies announced in 2017 was Shazam! When the trailer dropped at SDCC 2018, we couldn’t wait to get more. Now it’s finally happening.

There are so many things to love about this movie. One of those is most definitely The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘s Zachary Levi. Then there’s the fact that he’ll play a teenager who transforms into an adult because of his powers. If that’s not enough, the high profile cast, the awesome trailer, and the fact that it’s something slightly different in a world of superhero movies should help you get excited.
