12. Joker

Directed by: Todd Phillips

Starring: Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, and Robert De Niro

Date arriving: Oct. 4, 2019

Why we need to watch it: It shouldn’t be that surprising that Joker is on the list. This isn’t the same movie with Suicide Squad‘s Jared Leto playing the villainous character. Joker is the one with Joaquin Phoenix and you know that he’s going to portray this crazy Batman arch-nemesis extremely well. If anyone can take on Heath Ledger’s version and succeed, it’s going to be Phoenix.

One of the great things is this movie is separate to the rest of the DCEU movies. It’s also a character study, which will mean a darkness that other movies can’t offer. Hey, maybe it could be like Wonder Woman and Aquaman and help push the DC movie-verse forward in a positive way!

11. Spider-Man: Far from Home

Directed by: Jon Watts

Starring: Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jake Gyllenhaal, Marisa Tomei, and Michael Keaton

Date arriving: July 5, 2019

Why we need to watch it: Spider-Man: Homecoming was a surprisingly excellent updated version of the superhero story. After all, there were questions whether it was needed. Now that Tom Holland has impressed, we’re ready for more.

Of course, there are plenty of questions about this sequel. The biggest one surrounds Avengers, since Spider-Man was one of the traumatic losses in Infinity War. The movie is after Endgame but that doesn’t mean everything will be solved by the time the Spider-Man sequel is out, right?
