Why we need to watch it: Tell me you didn’t just start singing “Rocketmen.” Of course you did! And that’s a good thing — and why this movie is so highly anticipated in 2019. Rocketman is an autobiography movie for the one and only Elton John.

The success of Bohemian Rapsody has certainly pushed this movie up into one of those to watch next year. Who doesn’t adore Elton John? This is more than just a look at his music, but at his whole life and how he’s become the legend he is now.

7. Pokemon: Detective Pikachu

Why we need to watch it: Even if you’ve never watched the anime, this is likely movie on your list to watch. That’s especially going to be the case if you have kids. It’s not even my thing usually, but the trailer had me in stitches and my kids are already asking to go.

Pokemon: Detective Pikachu is part of the franchise you know and love. It brings elements of the original anime to life, while also adding modern-day twists and fresh elements. With Ryan Reynolds voicing Detective Pikachu, there’s absolutely no way that you could say no, right?
