4. Kingsman: The Secret Service

Date it premiere: Dec. 13, 2014 (at the Butt-Numb-a-Thon Film Festival)

Financial and critical acclaim: This is one of those UK movies that got a U.S. release at a small festival, which is why it just makes this list of movies turning five. Kingsman: The Secret Service made half of its $81m budget at opening weekend but became a financial success thanks to its gross U.S. of $128m and gross worldwide of $414m earnings.

In terms of critical success, it was never going to win any major awards. However, it does hold a 74% approval ratings on Rotten Tomatoes with audiences enjoying it more with an 84% rating.

Why we loved it: This is one of those comedies you need to watch. Starring the likes of Colin Firth and Samuel L. Jackson, it’s a movie for the masses. A spoof on the likes of James Bond, it offers an underdog story with a hilarious twist.

One of the things we all fell in love with was the outlandish stunts and expectations. These were things James Bond wouldn’t even be able to do, but that’s what made it so fun. It was never trying to be serious but it had a beautiful tale underneath, making it a spoof with heart.
