5 movies to watch on Amazon on New Year’s Day

4. Bridesmaids

If you loved The Hangover, you will adore Bridesmaids and it is one of the best movies to watch on New Year’s Day. This is one of those comedic movies that you can just put on and not need to concentrate on. Yet, you’ll find yourself enjoying every single minute of it.

Kristen Wiig both stars and co-wrote the movie with Annie Mumolo. Forever‘s Maya Rudolf also stars with Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt‘s Ellie Kemper and Ghostbuster gender swap’s Melissa McCarthy. With a powerhouse of comedic actresses, this was immediately set to be a strong movie.

When Annie Walker’s business fails and her boyfriend leaves her, she finds herself stuck between options. There’s no light at the end of her tunnel and then she’s asked to be Maid of Honor at her best friend’s wedding. Of course, this is when everything kicks off, as the group of bridesmaids has personalities that are all complete opposites and with Annie taking an instant dislike to the groom’s boss, Helen.

This isn’t just a great comedy to nurse that hangover. It’s an excellent movie about finding yourself and figuring out your future. After all, New Year’s gives us that oomph to try something new and figure out our futures.

The downside of Bridesmaids is that you’ll need to buy or rent it on Amazon. I’d highly recommend buying it digitally, as it’s only a dollar more than renting and you get to keep it forever. This is definitely one you’ll want to watch again and again.
