5. When Harry Met Sally

There is no better movie to start your New Year’s Day with. When Harry Met Sally will remain one of the world’s favorite movies from the late-80s, bringing all the goodness of rom-com charm. Yes, it can be a little cheesy at times, but that’s the beauty of this movie. Despite cheese, there’s plenty of excellent character development, romance, and writing.

Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan star as Henry Burns and Sally Albright respectively. By the end of the movie, you’ll ask yourself whether men and women really can just be friends. You’ll also have that reminder of going for love when you’re given the chance. Why not allow yourself to be happy?

This movie also has a similar message to that special episode of Prime Original Forever. It takes place over the series of a few years, seeing how life changes and watching Harry and Sally come together and decide not to be with each other a few times. Will it be too late for them by the time they decide to finally give it a chance?

Another reason this is a big one to watch at New Year is because this is when it’s set. There are New Year’s Eve parties, with one of them being the climax of the movie.

One of the downsides of When Harry Met Sally is that you will need an Amazon Channels subscription. It’s available to watch on SHOWTIME. You can get it with a seven-day free trial, so you could watch it on New Year’s Day for free if you time it all right. You can also buy or rent digitally on Amazon, which is perfect when you know you love it and you don’t know how long SHOWTIME will have it.
