5. New Year’s Eve

For those who love Love Actually, there’s another one set at New Year. Yes, it’s aptly titled New Year’s Eve, bringing a mixture of storylines that are all connected in some sort of way. You get a look at relationships, family, expectations, resolutions, and much more throughout the course of the movie.

Not all the relationships are happy. Some will end on a positive note and others have that sense of work needed for the future.

Set in New York City, it’s all about waiting for the ball to drop in Times Square. Starring Jessica Biel, Halle Berry, Abigail Breslin, Sarah Jessica Parker, Robert De Niro, and Zac Efron, this is a movie with an all-star cast. While the writing is somewhat predictable, the beauty is in the details and the acting.

If you’re not certain about New Year’s Eve, you can choose to rent it. It’ll be available for 30 days until you start watching it — then you have three days to get through it. If you already have it on DVD and are just looking for the digital version to watch when you want or you know this will become the movie to watch each New Year, then I highly recommend buying so it’s always available.
