5 great movies on Amazon to watch on Christmas Day

2. Dr. Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas

The second on the list to watch is something that children and adults love. There’s comedy for all. Made in 2000, How the Grinch Stole Christmas remains a favorite for families and you can watch it on Amazon. You’ll need to buy or rent the movie though, and I highly recommend buying over renting.

Jim Carrey is the Grinch, who learns what Christmas really means. When he decides to ruin Christmas for the Whos of Whoville, little Cindy Lou Who (played by Gossip Girl‘s Taylor Momsen) teaches him what goodness and friendship mean. She doesn’t care that he looks different and just wants him to be happy, too.

It’s an excellent adaptation of the Dr. Suess book. If you have the book, I do recommend reading it after watching the movie so your children get double-dose of the fun.

While it’s the perfect family movie, if you’re not a fan of Carrey, you can put it on while you’re cooking Christmas dinner. Just hearing the laughter from your children will be enough to make you smile.

This is one of those movies that is put on every year in our house. Even the two-year-old has been asking for it this year. Grab a cup of hot chocolate, some snacks, and just relax for a couple of hours. You all deserve it.
