1. Elf

Finally, it’s time for a comedy for the family. Everyone will find something to adore about this Will Ferrell movie (and I’ll admit to not being the biggest Will Ferrell fan). Elf is all about Santa’s magic and making even the biggest Scrooge a believer.

Ferrell plays Buddy, an orphaned baby who crawls into Santa’s sack one night. Rather than taking the baby back, Santa gives an elf a chance to raise the baby as his own and Buddy has the chance to be an elf. Of course, he’s human and that puts him at a disadvantage. It’s only when Buddy is an adult that he realizes he’s actually human.

Deciding to set off on a journey to find his birth father, he runs into all sorts of obstacles. Between mall Santas and cynical businessmen, this is sure to get plenty of laughs from everyone in the house. With the use of Santa and elves, the kids will adore it too.

You can watch Elf on Amazon but you’ll need to rent or buy it. I recommend buying it if you don’t have it on digital already. You’ll get to keep the movie for as long as Amazon is around, so you can watch it every year on Christmas Eve.
