Criminal Minds

Network: CBS

Number of seasons: 14

Why it’s in danger of being canceled: Criminal Minds is one of those shows I thought would end a couple of seasons ago. I think it was around Season 11 that things were in the air. CBS and ABC hadn’t come to a decision and the show was left on a cliffhanger without a renewal.

The same thing keeps happening. We get a finale and then no renewal right away. Most shows find out before their finales whether they’re getting renewed or not. Part of me thinks the only reason the FBI-drama was picked up this season was because the Season 14 premiere was the 300th episode.

What was once a ratings hit, really isn’t anymore. It’s 17 out of 20 when it comes to average Live + Same Day ratings on CBS. The only positive is that it’s somewhat consistent on a Wednesday night up against Chicago PD and now A Million Little Things. ABC’s schedule is changing in the new year, so CBS may want to see how that affects things.

Criminal Minds has been renewed for a 15th and final season .

Dynasty

Network: The CW

Number of seasons: 2

What it’s about:

Why it’s in danger of being canceled: I told you another show would make it on the list. Dynasty was the reboot that nobody really asked for last year and shocked everyone when it was renewed for a second season earlier this year.

The ratings have improved a little, but nowhere near the amount that they need to. I thought Legacies or Charmed might end up on this list, but Dynasty has been lower than both of those routinely.

Okay, Friday night slots aren’t great, but that made it clear the network didn’t hold too much hope for the second season right away. Unless the network needs a Friday night staple, the show is going to go.

Dynasty was confirmed as being renewed for a third season on Jan. 31 by The CW, to the surprise of many.
