All American

Network: The CW

Number of seasons: 1

What it’s about: Based on the true story

Why it’s in danger of being canceled: Out of all three current freshman shows on The CW, All American is the one I’m most worried about. It got off to a rough start, taking a couple of weeks to find it’s footing and its audience. While things have turned around, I’m worried that it’s too little, too late.

It remains in the bottom half of The CW’s programming. In fact, the only two shows performing worse on average are Dynasty and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. One of those is ending anyway and the other is going to come up shortly on this list.

I would love to see the high school drama to succeed. It works perfectly on a Wednesday night following Riverdale and it’s cute, funny, and well-written. Getting three extra episodes ordered is a good sign, but it will depend on the potential pilots for next season.

Blindspot

Network: NBC

Number of seasons: 4

Why it’s in danger of being canceled: I had hoped that Blindspot would be able to pick up its ratings this season but that just hasn’t been the case. After being on the bubble last year, I think this is a show that is pretty much dead in the water.

It’s NBC’s second lowest-rated drama and shows no sign of picking up. Some of the dips from last season can be attributed to it now being on a Friday night, but even then these dips are dangerously low. This could be a time for NBC to move on from the drama and pick up a new freshman for the 2019-2020 season.
