Speechless

Network: ABC

Number of seasons: 3

Why it’s in danger of being canceled: I would love to see Speechless to contiue, but it’s floundering. It’s ABC’s lowest-rated show completely. Right at the bottom of the list, it’s lost more than half its rating in the demo and almost half its total audience in the last year.

Some of that will be linked to the fact that it’s moved to Friday nights. However, it’s not going to be a good enough reason to keep the show running for another season. Plus, there are other shows that will need to be moved to Fridays to make room for the new freshmen shows in the 2019-2020 season.

Splitting Up Together

Network: ABC

Number of seasons: 2

Why it’s in danger of being canceled: There’s something worrying about a sophomore show when it doesn’t immediately get picked up for a full season. Unless it’s a midseason show, this suggests that there’s not much hope for it.

Splitting Up Together was also then a show that only got a handful of extra episodes. Yes, this is better than a few other freshman and sophomore shows across other networks, but it’s still worrying.

The Oliver Hudson-led drama just isn’t performing as well as ABC would like. There are other comedy pilots being picked up that could become better shows. ABC will likely bring this series to an end after two seasons.
