5. Season 1: The One Where the Underdog Gets Away

It’s back to the beginning as we kick off the second half of the Friends Thanksgiving episodes list. This episode saw Joey’s family convinced that he had a sexually transmitted infection all because of an ad campaign that he did.

On top of that, each of the other friends has their own wishes and quirks. This is the first time we get to learn a lot about them, such as Chandler’s refusal to celebrate pilgrim holidays and Phoebe’s celebration of two Thanksgivings each year.

This is one of those episodes that instantly sets the bar for Thanksgiving episodes to come. Friendships are deepened, great food is eaten, and plenty of laughs are had.

4. Season 3: The One With the Football

After a season of a Thanksgiving-less focused episode, the show got back to being all about the season. While it’s about food, family, and thanks, it’s also all about football for many. And that’s exactly what this episode brings.

If you ask anyone about Friends Thanksgiving episodes, they’ll usually bring up this one. Who doesn’t remember the rivalry between Ross and Monica and Rachel’s disastrous attempts at playing football?

And it’s not just sibling rivalry. There’s friend rivalry too, as Chandler and Joey right over a girl. Let’s not forget the freshness of being somewhere other than the apartment.

In the end, it’s all about the friends coming together for Thanksgiving dinner. And that’s after plenty of laughter and highlights.
