19. Patriot

Patriot may have dropped its second season last week, but it belonged on this list during the first. Of course, the second season pushes it up to the number seven spot of all Prime Originals.

Trying to describe the series isn’t going to be easy. There are multiple storylines working together to create the fuller experience. But for the most part, it’s about one man who heads on a mission to save his brother.

This man has two jobs that will run together. He’s a non-official cover for the CIA, working in a pipe company as an engineer. When he’s called to a mission to get money from point A to B, it turns out that his job as an engineer is to build a pipe line between the two locations. You don’t think this is all by coincidence, do you?

Of course not! Nor is it really that easy. There are plenty of things that go awry along the way, including murder and his own father getting in the way to make things far more complicated than it needs to be.

This is a black comedy. There are some dark moments that will make you laugh out loud. The idea is to sit back and not take it seriously, because Patriot certainly doesn’t. And yes, the second season is just as funny and strange as the first, although it wasn’t renewed after.
