1. Tales from the Loop

April 2020 brought the first season of Tales from the Loop. On the surface, it looked a little like a standard science fiction show. Something called The Loop in the middle of a small town made all science fiction possible. However, there was much more to this series.

We got a chance to see time loops, time travel, time freezing, body switching, and so much more. Everything you’ve possibly wished could happen to you is brought into this world, but that doesn’t mean it brought happiness.

In fact, that’s what made Tales from the Loop immediately stand out. The science fiction was just the catalyst for the story. We got a chance to see human relationships and personal problems arise either because of the event or within the event. Adults learned more about themselves and children realized the dangers that sci-fi can bring.

Something that made this series refreshing was that there was never a time to figure out why the events happened. Everyone just accepted that The Loop caused weird things. That was all that mattered, helping to focus on the heartfelt and sometimes heartbreaking storylines.

There’s a weight to each episode. Even if this show isn’t renewed for a second season, the first is strong enough to put this in first place. It’s going to take a lot for this show to move.
