8. The Man in the High Castle

Did you really think this alternate history series wasn’t going to make it on the list? The Man in the High Castle Season 3 dropped in October and it pulled viewers right in. There are so many questions that I’m still going through (expect those questions next week on Amazon Adviser) and plenty of potential for the future.

Wait, you’ve not heard of the series? How not?

The Man in the High Castle is based on the Philip K. Dick novel of the same name. Set in the 1960s, it asks the question “what if the Nazis and Japan won World War II?” Yes, you’re taken through a world with America split between Germany and Japan, with a small strip in the middle called “The Neutral Zone.”

How do people live? What’s life like with the Axis countries running the show? And can they even trust each other?

It’s all about to get even more confusing, complicated, but exciting. It turns out there are tapes of other outcomes. Lead characters Juliana Crane, Joe Blake, and Frank Frink are pulled into numerous “what if” worlds. They see outcomes that they’ve never lived through.

What does it all mean? That’s something to explore throughout the series.

While the fourth season did a great job of wrapping up the Naxi American storyline, there was a bit of a mess with the black rebellion storyline. We were also left with major questions despite this being written as a final season, which does mean it drops a bit on this list.
