11. Fleabag

When you want a comedy that doesn’t hold anything back, it’s going to be all about Fleabag. Created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge based on her one-woman stage show, she stars as the titular character. However, the series does has a chance to delve into some of the other characters, including Fleabag’s sister, brother-in-law, and more.

The show is described as a “young woman attempting to navigate modern life in London.” Of course, it becomes far more than that. This young woman is thoroughly modern. She isn’t ashamed of her love for sex but also doesn’t come across as the most likable character on the show. And that’s the point! She’s flawed, she’s human, and she’s brilliant.

Fleabag offers a real story told over the course of two seasons. It was originally only going to be one until Waller-Bridge found a storyline for a second season and developed it.

That’s what is so wonderful. The episodes are good because they’ve been developed well. They’re not written for the sake of it but because Waller-Bridge knows there’s a take there.

Now there are two seasons of the tale. Throughout the seasons, Fleabag learns more about life, her emotions, and her relationship with the Man Upstairs. It’s a tale of development, and there is something we can all take from the series.
