1. The Woman in Black

If you only have time to watch one horror movie this Halloween, make sure it’s The Woman in Black. It’s the only horror movie you ever need to see. You’ll be left with the visions and the fear.

There are a few reasons this movie is so scary. One of those is the setting. Whenever there’s a movie in an old, large house, there’s always something creepy about it. It doesn’t even need to be a horror movie! However, there’s also a sadness to this movie. You soon start to find that the Woman in Black only attacks because of the things that happened to her.

This is one of those horror movies that pulls you in with its simplicity and period setting. Sure, there are jump scares (it’s a haunted house) but those jump scares are also psychological at the same time. You’re constantly looking out for where this woman in black is—or even where your child victims are.

One of the downsides when The Woman in Black came out was that it was Daniel Radcliff in the role shortly after Harry Potter. Now that it’s been a few years, you won’t be distracted by that and you’ll see more of the horror, heartbreak, and eeriness. Can you sleep with the light off afterward?

You may notice I tried to go for something different to the usual offerings. However, HalloweenFriday the 13th, and The Amityville Horror are other excellent choices if you want the classics.
