Fans are hoping someone will save Lucifer after FOX canceled the popular series and it’s possible that Amazon does save the show.

It’s been a couple of weeks since FOX announced their decision to cancel Lucifer. The news hit fans hard who loved everything that the show represents and the characters they’re so invested in. They didn’t want to accept the news that FOX canceled the show and began hoping for some other studio to save Lucifer.

The petitions were made and signed and passed around the internet. Social media was flooded with messages about why the show needed to be saved and the hashtag “#SaveLucifer” was trending on Twitter in the aftermath.

Despite the fan reaction, the various studios worked hard behind the scenes about the viability of whether they would pursue picking up and saving Lucifer.

I don’t think Lucifer fans have a preference who picks up Lucifer, they just hope someone does.

So this should come as good news for Lucifer fans that Amazon is still holding active conversations about saving the series.

In an interview with Deadline, Amazon studio head Jennifer Salke conversations are ongoing, which should give some hope for fans of the show that it just might continue.

"“We were talking about Lucifer,” Salke said during the interview held last Thursday. “I’m not sure where we are on that. I know that international, especially the UK group, was really bullish on that show, I haven’t checked in on that today (Thursday), but I heard conversations were ongoing on that yesterday.”"

This is certainly exciting for fans, but I’d caution them, not to get too excited or put the proverbial cart before the horse here. It’s great the conversations are being held because it means there’s a chance. But just because conversations are being held doesn’t mean it’s automatically going to pick up the show and order up a handful of new seasons.

But it’s totally fine to have some guarded optimism.

Amazon recently saved The Expanse after it was canceled so they’re clearly not averse to saving shows from other networks and making them their own.

Maybe (hopefully!) the same can be said for Lucifer in the near future. Stay tuned.
